What we believe...
-
The Bible is the
authoritative, inspired, infallible, inerrant and sufficient Word of God, revealing to man what
God
wants us to know about Him, what God wants man to know about himself and what
God's plan of salvation is. It is only through
reading the 66 books of the Bible as the Holy Spirit bears witness to their
truth, that mankind can know the True God.
-
There is only
one true, triune God comprised of three unique persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the
Holy Spirit (the Trinity) who are equal in equal in power, yet amongst
themselves have determined to submit in relationship one to another in the
work that They accomplish.
-
That
Jesus Christ is at
the same time, fully God and fully man.
-
"In the beginning, God
created"--meaning that we consider Genesis to be an accurate and
historical record of the creation of the heavens and the earth and all that
is contained therein. As such, we do not believe in the Theory of
Evolution, but in creationism.
-
In the fall of mankind,
meaning that mankind was created
in the image of God, but chose to willfully disobey and rebel against God's
authority over them and their lives, causing sin to enter the world and with
sin came the wages of sin which is death.
-
And that due to the fall
of mankind,
every individual
is been born into sin and as such, falling short of the
glory of God,
that each
individual must personally be saved from the wrath of God that justly judges
in righteousness, condemning all who sin eternally to hell.
-
In the
justification of mankind by
grace alone,
through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.
Being that all are dead in sin,
we believe that the Holy Spirit must first give faith to an individual to
believe in substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the cross as the only
means to salvation, that they may be saved by grace--that unearned and unmerited favor of God, who
calls that individual into relationship with Jesus Christ for salvation. We
believe that it is not our work that justifies us before God, but the work
of Jesus Christ that justifies all who believe by repenting of their sins
and trusting in the righteousness of Jesus alone for salvation.
-
That when a person is born again from
above, that he or she becomes a new creature in Christ--that the old passes
away and the new comes--resulting in the ongoing process of
sanctification which is the true evidence of
salvation,
demonstrating that the Holy Spirit is working in our lives to conform us to the image
of Jesus.
-
We
can be assured of our salvation
in the next life. Some (not all) of the
assurances of our salvation are:
-
That
upon being born again a desire if placed within us to tell others about
Jesus Christ.
-
That as a new person
in Christ, we walk in the Light and no longer walk in the darkness. This
means that over time a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ will become
more transparent and less hidden.
-
That as a new person
in Christ, the believer desires fellowship with the saints of God more
than he or she desires to fellowship with wicked and evil people.
-
That daily the
follower of Christ becomes more sensitive to sin in his or her own life
and desires to live a righteous life free from sin.
-
That when the follower
of Christ does sin, he or she acknowledges and confesses the sin to
Jesus so that He may forgive them that sin and cleanse them from all
unrighteousness.
-
That the follower of
Christ obeys Jesus and the commandments that He presents in His Holy
Word the Bible.
-
That we desire to not
become followers and imitators of the world, but that by the enabling of
God the Holy Spirit we live our lives in the manner that Jesus lived
His, being transformed and conformed into His image.
-
That the follower of
Christ walks in the love of Christ.
-
That
the gifts of the Holy Spirit found in Scripture are active in the body of
Christ today
and are given for the edification of the church so the saints of God would
be equipped for every good work. And, along these lines we believe the true
work of the Holy Spirit to be those things indicated in Scripture,
including, but not limited to:
-
He guides us into all
truth (John 16:13).
-
He teaches us (John
14:26 and 1 John 2:27).
-
He exalts and
glorifies Jesus (John 15:26 and John 16:14).
-
He helps us be
witnesses of Jesus; by giving boldness, by bringing Scripture to mind,
by directing us to those needing a witness, by performing miracles that
attest to the truth of the message of Christ.
-
He gives us courage
and boldness (Micah 3:8).
-
He convicts the world
of sin and righteousness (John 16:8).
-
He comes along side
those who are in Christ, enabling them to do good (John 16:7).
-
He helps us to pray
(Romans 8:26-27).
-
He conforms us to the
image of Christ (Romans 8:28-30).
-
He leads and directs
us (Acts 11:12, 13:1-4).
-
He produces the
character of God within us; by producing within us the fruit of the Holy
Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23.
-
He administers God’s
grace (Zechariah 12:10 and Hebrews 10:29).
-
He inspires a fear of
the Lord within us (Isaiah 11:2) which is the beginning of wisdom and
knowledge.
-
He regenerates us
(Titus 3:5).
-
That Jesus Christ will
return to earth to judge and reward. He will condemn to hell those who in
this life did not repent of their sins and trust in Christ alone for
salvation. And at the same time, we believe in the good news of the Gospel,
that when Christ does return, He will reward all who in this life were given
the grace of God to believe in Jesus alone as Savior, resulting in the
ongoing work of Holy Spirit enabled sanctification in their lives. We
believe those in this second group will enter into the eternal glory of God
forever in heaven.
